Project 1 - Ten Second Leader
Title: "Escape"
About: An Avant-garde exploration of campus and anxiety. I tried to capture the real essence of interactions with your personal space. A strange, off the wall appreciation for the uniqueness for campus under the pre-tense of escaping the space as if it was a mental institution. A visual representation of the darker sides of the creative process.

Liisa, very cool, it kind of reminds me of the beginning of a horror movie or something. There is a definite sense of urgency and panic in your countdown. I think the shaky hand-held camera style, heart-beat-monitor type beeping, and the fact that this was shot at night really helps enhance this mood.
I also think the story behind you coming up with your idea is really interesting and using footage of numbers found in our everyday surroundings is quite clever in your countdown it almost becomes kind of like a secret code, are the numbers helping this person escape? Is the person running from the numbers? Or is it simply a countdown to their escape? And what are they trying to escape from?
I like how not everything is explained, the mystery is very intriguing.
The only thing I would suggest is to maybe pause for a little longer on the credits at the end so that they are easier to read.
Hmmmmm, interesting. There is a definite sense of urgency and fear in this video- and I like that. You conveyed the mood well and on a campus where being sexually harassed happens about as often as an A+ it is a pretty appropriate theme.
While you do manage to convey feeling really well, the whole campus thing was completely lost on me until I read the description. I don't think it matters though because as you said it is very avant garde. It works fine as a non-descript place.
The beeping sound worked really well- but, I would have probably gotten rid of the background noise and maybe even repaced it with heavy breathing or panting or something. The way it is it just seems like white noise you didn't know how to remove.
